Ha FARM SET UP

Land
clearing is the development of land with the intention of creating a potential
use for agricultural purposes. Bush clearance, ripping, heavy discing, light
discing successfully achieved using a brush-pilling Bull Dozer. However,
ridging works are currently being executed. Plantation of Moringa (30 Ha)
expected to take place as from the 1st of September as well as
Ginger and Turmeric (16Ha). Bush clearance requires the removal of native cover
‒ including trees, bushes and boulders ‒ from the land surface. The land is
subsequently broken to create a workable bed into which a crop can be seeded.
Land breaking includes the removal of roots, stumps and rocks.

30
HA SEMI-PERMANENT IRRIGATION SYSTEM & 16 Ha DRIP SYSTEM

In the
sprinkler method of irrigation, water is sprayed into the air and allowed to
fall on the ground surface somewhat resembling rainfall. The spray is developed
by the flow of water under pressure through small orifices or nozzles. The pressure
is usually obtained by pumping. With careful selection of nozzle sizes,
operating pressure and sprinkler spacing the amount of irrigation water
required to refill the crop root zone can be applied nearly uniform at the rate
to suit the infiltration rate of soil.

Excavation
not exceeding 1.2 meters deep and back filling has been completed. Sub
mainlines pipes (200mm Diameter UPVC pipes class 9) and Main pipes (250mm
diameter UPVC pipes class 12) has been laid successfully including
complementary works.

PUMP HOUSE
AND SUB STATION

Lomdashi
pump house was granted by SWADE for water abstraction. In addition, SWADE
granted Artemis Phytocare water permit for approximately 500,000 m3 of water
consumption yearly. The sump water storage capacity is 198.4m3 and water
transmission from the canal is through a diameter 1000mm GMS steel pipe, outlet
is 196.8 above sea level.

All
mechanical and electrical works has been successfully executed. Only the foot
valve strainer to be installed beneath the water sump on the 20 August 2018.
Commissioning and testing scheduled on the Wednesday 22 Aug 2018.
