Academic City is piloting a meal plan system that has been designed by a group of young entrepreneurs under the company ‘Cavemen Ghana Ltd’, overseen by Resources 4 Africa Chief Transformation Officer Vinay Gokaldas and Academic City IT Supervisors Mouaz Ibrahim and Godfred Brown.
The mealplan system will set the basis of cash on campus system at Academic City which will allow students to purchase meals, stationery and other items on campus using their student ID Card.

The meal plan system is initially being rolled out to students who are on a presidential scholarship and by default on a meal plan. The meal plan system is divided into three different packages:-
a 900 Meal Plan – for 900 USD which permits students to consume up to 3 meals a day with an additional 900 GHC discretionary ‘snack account’ for spending on extra meal items such as fish or chicken and/or drinks.
A 600 Meal Plan – for 600 USD which permits students to consume up to 2 meals a day with an additional 600 GHC discretionary ‘snack account’ for spending on extra meal items such as fish or chicken and/or drinks.
A 300 Meal Plan – for 300 USD which permits students to consume up to 2 meals a day with an additional 300 GHC discretionary ‘snack account’ for spending on extra meal items such as fish or chicken and/or drinks.

Our campus canteen vendor Cuisine Art is happy to support the meal plan system and has been processing all campus transactions through. There has been ongoing feedback of the meal plan system from students, with some suggesting that they should get an ‘i-owe-you’ credit in case they miss a meal. The meal plan system may undergo changes after this semester to meet all student and staff requirements.
