As Build Smart Retail outlet, this is our first trial in retail to test this concept, as Mozambique is not a very big population but geographically it is a vast country, so we wanted to target each area by opening few more retail outlets in Maputo, Beira, Tete, Chimoio, and Quilimani.
In comparatively smaller countries, retail is the way to go if controls, checks, and balances have been put in place properly.
Counter sales are best, where clients come in with cash and purchase their material, most important is the location of the place, it might not give us quick results but it can set the tone for some fix sales for future.
It is a work in progress, the initial target is to start one place, get it to settle in a few months or a year and move on to the next location to start another one.
Building materials have been in good demand in Africa, due to growth in infrastructure projects.
Mr. Rajesh Soni, our retail sales manager & the team has started managing it. The whole team has supported this effort from renting the place to fix furniture, display products, fix signboards, and all are making efforts to advertise our brand name. We have already started receiving good footfall, hope it will improve.
