It’s great to write to you all today on our Vista View, which has given us updates on all that is happening in and around the counties where our Group is present.
I have completed my 20 years in Mozambique, and this is my 18th year with Vista Group. In 2002, Vista Group had taken over a small pharmaceutical distribution company in Mozambique called Afri Farmacia Lda. We could not have thought at that time that Afri Farmacia would reach to where it is today. However, we are proud to say, this small distribution company has reached to be the best of 4 in the Mozambican Pharma Industry and has spread its Pharma and Medical Equipment wings to a total of 8 countries throughout the continent. I would like to thank all my team members for their dedication and professionalism that they put together to achieve this level, similarly, Management for their understanding and support of our vision for growth and expansion.
Throughout this period, we have made a lot of acquisitions and new investments. In 2017, we acquired a small pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Nigeria called Sewell Pharmaceutical to embark on the group’s first venture into pharmaceutical manufacturing. Although it has been tough, I believe this is a great decision from Management and I am sure in the coming years this will grow additional verticals within the group.
We have now planned for a new pharmaceutical WHO/GMP plant in Nigeria, in addition to added focus, effort and expansion in Ghana, DR Congo and Nigeria. We have discussed this with respective Business Heads and the necessary plans are getting put in place.
We are now seeing many professional initiatives coming from Management to strengthen the data management systems of our companies which is key to all businesses and business solutions. This is very important for a fast growing organization like us.
Today our entire Vista Group has very professionally presented itself to all clientele, whether it is our own clients, NGOs, Governments or anybody through our websites. Vista Group and all it’s business verticals now have individual digital profiles professionally presenting each of our companies and activities. This has really helped all of us tell our stories to the outside world, and I would like to thank the teams who have made this possible.
In 2019, we have got great challenges to face as the economy is recovering slowly from the devaluations of currencies across Africa in the last few years. Competition is increasing at great speed as globalization and access to information becomes easier and more entitled. Nevertheless, we are in Africa and I strongly believe that the future market is here for us to tap.
Let me take this opportunity to thank Management, the entire team of Artemis Life Sciences and all those from the Group who are supporting us from all other countries. Wishing you all success in achieving the set of goals for 2019 and beyond.
