Director’s Message: Mr. Yaw Amoateng

Dear
friends, colleagues and everyone in the broader Vista family, greetings to you
all from the center of the Earth, Ghana. Since the establishment of NIIT Ghana
in the year 1999, the institution has gone through different faces while
achieving major milestones. As the oldest Vista education business in Ghana,
out of which the various educational institutions have emerged, the value of our
brand remains strong.

With our
commitment to building human capital, we have trained approximately a hundred
thousand people in Ghana and across Africa in diverse technology programs. A
casual walk into any IT firm in Ghana or any department that utilizes
technology, and chances are you would encounter an ex NIIT student. Such an
experience is fulfilling knowing that we are in tune with our goal of building
a pool of professionals for the knowledge-based economy.

As a forward-looking
institution, we continue to evolve in response to the changes in society and
the advancement in technology. We have introduced new versions of existing
programs with an upgraded technology. In the past year, we also introduced
completely new programs spanning areas such as graphics, programming
fundamentals for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as well as
Security. We are excited at the new projects we are currently working on. In
the coming months, we look forward to rolling out a number of new initiatives.
These will include a hybrid online program which we believe is the future for
high impacting education. Also, in the works is an incubator program which will
bring to light the entrepreneurial skills in our fellows, shifting them from
the mindset of job seekers to job creators. These require well thought through
strategies and remodelling of some of our existing programs. We are poised to
see it come to fruition.

We have
also received some notable recognitions this year including a gold award for
the category “Best ICT (Training and Hardware)”. This award is by the Ashanti
Business Excellence Awards under the auspices of the Manhyia Palace which has
the authority of the Ashanti King. We also played host to the German Cooperation’s
career training program which is aimed at preparing graduates for work. Additionally,
the most vibrant software developers’ community in Ghana – DevCongress chose
our Accra office for their maiden event in the year.

It’s been
a packed year so far, and I’m thankful to our teams from Accra to Tema, up to
Kumasi in the central part of Ghana and then further up north to Tamale in the
Northern region of the country. We continue to do better because of the human
capital we have! Thank you all for the support, kind words of encouragement and constructive criticisms. Looking forward to brighter and exciting days
ahead. Collectively we can achieve greatness!
