Under Business expansion, Kas Medics is Planning to enter into the Manufacturing of Rapid Diagnostic Tests, this will be first of its kind in and around East Africa. Currently around 35 – 40 Million tests strips per year, (data from msd requirement) are being imported into East African countries.
Kas Biotech have entered into a technical collaboration with Kin Bio from China, who have vast experience dealing with these turnkey projects. They will be handling the full set up of the facility from the building to the machine lines, in addition, they will coordinate with our manufacturers for raw material supply.
With the current planned capacity, Kas Biotech will be able to produce up to 39 Million Tests, annually, which will be a mix of complete Rapid Tests, these tests will include,
HCG (Pregnancy), Urine, HCV (Hepatitis C), HBV (Hepatitis B), Syphilis will be in first phase, while as we move on, we will also have Malaria, and HIV.
Being the first company in the region, we hope to get ample recognition from governments and strong financial viability.
Kas Medics is already into this business, and currently importing these products from various manufacturers, with this facility Kas Biotech can supply close to 100% of the current requirement of the country, which covers both public and private sectors.
Kas Biotech is starting this facility within the same premises where currently Kas medics is currently located. The total requirement of the facility is around 600 square meters and in light of the current covid-19 situation we hope the facility will begin producing its first batch of test strips in Q3 2020.
