CAMU, the student information system that is being implemented at Academic City was off to a strong start early September in Haatso, Accra. To coincide with the new campus, Mr Devendra Padhi from Octoze Technologies visited us for a 30-day period to assist Mr Vinay Gokaldas (Chief Transformation Officer) with the transition and implementation.
Over the course of 2 weeks; a total of 65 students and 54 staff were on-boarded successfully in a makeshift on board & data capture centre. Leading the charge on the data capture was Godfred Brown, Academic City’s new database admin. All students’ information, course & program enrolment and bills were successfully imported into CAMU and aligned with the legacy Entrust software, which will be used in parallel until spring.
Additionally, Pratap Jantua of NIIT was on-site to oversee the implementation of the Academic City Fibre Internet Line, a firehose of 120 Mbps and the fastest internet for miles in Haatso! Students and staff successfully tested the line on September 14th, with individual speeds approaching 55 MBps, a much-needed boost to productivity and workflow at Academic City.

Students were thrilled to be on the new campus where they received their new Academic City ID cards at the onboard centre and left the session with a sense of belonging and new beginnings. “I am thrilled that the CAMU ERP system is now active on campus and it is my hope everyone will use it to improve their workflow and productivity,” said Mr Gokaldas. In addition to the implementation, students were also enrolled in the LMS portion of the software known as ‘MyCAMU’ through two different sessions.
At the time of writing, the following CAMU modules have successfully been deployed, and handed over to AC staff with multiple rounds of training; Enquiries, Billing, Academic Planning, Student/Staff Records, Timetable Development, Enrolment, Teaching Plans, Course Content and Notifications & Announcements.
