We at Academic City believe in promoting equal opportunity, while encouraging healthy diversity – be it amongst its students, staff and faculty. Most importantly, the empowerment of women is a core focus.

Academic City is proud to have its female students from some of the top high schools in Ghana such as Alpha Beta Christian College, St. Roses Senior High School, African Science Academy, Tema Secondary School and so on.

Sunitha Jenarius has 10+ years of industry experience ranging across management consulting, strategy, operations, and entrepreneurship from the US, UAE, India and Ghana, as well as holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, USA. Ruth Kwakwa has 20 years of experience across educational administration, marketing and advertising, as well as holds a Master’s degree in City Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
The university’s focus on building a STEM base that encourages innovation and technological exploration, makes Academic City a huge supporter of women in STEM. By partnering with industry organizations for scholarships, Academic City is able to recruit female students who are passionate about leveraging STEM
education to solve societal problems. MainOne Ghana, a leading provider of innovative telecommunication services and network solutions for businesses in West Africa, partnered with Academic City to sponsor a full 100% Women-in-STEM scholarship to Elizabeth Fio, an Academic City female student studying Mechanical Engineering (photo below).

Hence, Academic City continues to be inspired by, and promote women who depict remarkable leadership traits and an unflinching passion to create impact – be it as part of its students, staff, faculty or leadership.
