Artemis Pharmaceuticals Swaziland recently supported a regional malaria response through a donation of Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy (ACT) to the End Malaria Fund in Eswatini.
The Republic of Botswana was facing a potential malaria outbreak due to critically low medication stocks and requested urgent assistance through the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) network. As a member of ALMA, the End Malaria Fund coordinated a rapid response and reached out to partners across the region.
Artemis Pharmaceuticals stepped in to provide the required ACT medication and support the necessary regulatory processes to enable the donation. The medicines were officially presented by Mr. Prashanth K. Budime, Managing Director of Artemis Pharmaceuticals, to Mr. Steven Mthethwa, CEO of the End Malaria Fund (Eswatini).
The End Malaria Fund coordinated the logistics to ensure the timely delivery of the medicines to Botswana. ALMA has since expressed its appreciation for the contribution toward the collective effort to prevent a malaria outbreak.
This initiative reflects the importance of regional collaboration in addressing public health challenges and supporting malaria elimination efforts across Africa.
