Onam, Kerala’s beloved 10-day harvest festival, commemorates the legendary return of King Mahabali and is marked by vibrant traditions such as creating intricate flower carpets (Pookalam), preparing the grand Onam Sadya feast, and participating in boat races, music, and traditional dances. This year, Onam began on August 26 and culminated on September 5 with Thiruvonam, the festival’s grand day.
In Mozambique, we celebrated Onam 2025 with our extended family of colleagues, friends, and loved ones. The event featured a beautifully designed Pookalam, symbolizing prosperity and harmony, followed by a traditional Onam Sadya an elaborate meal served on banana leaves that is central to the festivities.
The day was filled with energy and joy as everyone joined in games such as tug of war, pot breaking, and other fun activities, creating moments of laughter and camaraderie. The celebrations concluded with lively music and dance, bringing together people from different cultures and backgrounds in the true spirit of Onam.
Onam symbolizes unity, equality, and togetherness values that resonate strongly with us at Vista Group. Just as the festival is celebrated across communities, we too shared this occasion with friends from Mozambique and other parts of the world, reaffirming that Vista is not just a workplace, but a family.
Here are some glimpses from the celebration.
