After weeks of rehearsals, the Drama Class of BlueCrest university college put up a well-staged play called “Sorry Ever After” at the campus auditorium on November 7, 2018.

The play was part of a project work assigned by lecturers in the Mass Communications department to go beyond textbooks and increase student exposure to different aspects of communications. The participants were semester IV students of the Mass Communication program. Such an event is held every semester.

Written by Maxwell Odoi, the plot revolved around the ups and downs in the daily life of the residents of a compound house. The central theme of the play highlighted the horrors of domestic violence.

The Rector of the college Professor Sunil K. Roy and Registrar Mr Sujith Jayaprakash were the chief guests of the show. The play was staged as part of end-of-semester exams. Theatre studies is a module in the mass communication syllabus taught at the BlueCrest University.

Since the module is Theatre Arts, students had to exhibit their understanding of staging a play, the planning& implementation of a theatre, from stage design, costumes, dialogue delivery, to acting, exhibiting their understanding of the rudiments of Theatre Arts,” said Ms Sreemoyee Thapa Dasgupta, acting head of the department.
