
The executive team from Academic City led by its President, Dr. Fred McBagonluri (right) and Director of Strategy, Sunitha Jenarius (left) attended the ASU+GSV education summit in San Diego, the most innovative education and education technology gathering in the world.
Over the course of 3 days in San Diego, the team comprising of Sunitha Jenarius, Vinay Gokaldas and Dr. Fred McBagonluri met with a variety of cutting edge companies in the education space; Coursera, Kosmos, Google, Labster and Vemo. In the days following the conference, the team also visited UC San Diego and Stanford University to understand the kinds of collaborations possible with Academic City.

The Academic City team met the following key personalities; Prof. Paul Kim (Stanford Graduate School), Reuben Thiessen (Edify), Paul Le Blanc (Southern New Hampshire University), Dr. Marc Brackett (Yale), Mads Bonde (Labster), Prof. Vivek Wadhwa and Tiffany Shumate (BlackGirlsCode). The summit was well attended by universities and schools from across America, including celebrity panels. It launched with a dinner on the first day featuring President George W. Bush. Other personalities at the event included Emily Chang (Bloomberg Technology), Betty Liu (CNBC) and Matthew McConaughy (Hollywood Actor).

The summit was an opportunity to understand how far along in the education dialogue some colleges were and what the most innovative technologies being used on campus today are. The Academic City team also got the chance to meet Chelsey Roebuck who is a Forbes 30 under 30 and runs an engineering bootcamp in Ghana. Chelsey will be hosting this bootcamp at Academic City in the near future!
