Academic City Ghana took an initiative to support the 2018 SEED Project Hoop Forum in Dakar, Senegal, from May 9th to 13th. This year marked the 20th Anniversary of the Sport for Education and Economic Development Project (SEED).
The Hoop Forum served as a platform for professionals from both the public and private sectors to showcase SEED and collaborate on advancing sport for development internationally. Over the course of four days, guests participated in conferences, workshops, elite level basketball camps, cultural activities, networking opportunities and community events.
With a record number of international guests including speakers, players, coaches and sport professionals, SEED welcomed over 600 participants from more than 15 African countries, the United States, Canada, and Europe. #SEEDHoopForum became the highest trending hashtag in Africa over the event weekend with media coverage from over 31 countries.
This involvement marks Academic Cities initiative to partner with the NBA School and NBA Academy, in order to bring them to Ghana. As we continue building this relationship it is clear that we share synergies in our motives and are excited to make sport a key facet throughout our education initiatives.
