Over the course of the last month,
teams both in Accra and Dubai led by Dr. Kapil Gupta, Eureka Africa CEO, have
successfully migrated Academic City from
accghana.com to acity.edu.gh.
With email users experiencing an
ongoing user-by-user migration of mails we effected a change protocol that
ensured the website, admissions application portal and user emails successfully
transition over to the new domain.
The new domain came at the
suggestion of President Fred McBagonluri to bring Academic City’s status in
line with other education institutions in the country that are on the edu.gh domain, and will apply to staff, students and
faculty. The old domain accghana.com will
remain active within the group, and will forward all visitors to the new domain
over the next year.
Anees Rahman and Amit Agrawal who
recently joined Vishwamitra and Academic City respectiveley, played a key role
in the migration process. The exercise has been a display of the teamwork
potential at Vista Group in the ‘borderless’ digital space.
In recent months, the Academic
City website has attracted up to 1,000 visitors per day, many of whom are
prospective students and parents from Ghana and Nigeria predominantly. With
advanced SEO planning in the works, it is our hope that these numbers will be
sustained.
We have set a
target of 2,000 visitors per day to the new domain acity.edu.gh by the year end.
Do note that when the website is
viewed on a computer it displays a special landing page experience that is not
available on the mobile site.
