On September 10, 2018, the Academic City community welcomed its newest group of students – the Class of 2022. The students were welcomed by our staff and faculty who were thrilled to introduce them to our new campus.

The Class is made up of students from seven countries including Benin, Togo, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic, and Ghana. 70% of the student body is on scholarships, 20% of whom are paying less than 50% of their school fees while the remaining 50% of students are on scholarships of between 50% and 100% of the total school fees.

Academic City’s Class of 2022 was selected from a pool of exceptional high school graduates who have achieved a strong blend of excellent grades, leadership potential, and a genuine passion for improving their communities. Some members of this Class have also overcome significant barriers to their education and remain committed and determined to achieve their academic and career goals.

As the students warmed up to each other during the first two days of Orientation, they were encouraged to be open-minded and willing to step out of their comfort zones to explore their environment and learn in the process. Their orientation into the university was marked by welcome messages and words of advice from Academic City’s President and Provost, Dr. Fred McBagonluri, the Director of Strategy, Sunitha Jenarius, the Dean of Student Affairs, Ruth Kwakwa, as well as other members of the staff and faculty.
