Centennial Pavilion at Monrovia was decorated to radiate the splendor of Liberia to host the most prestigious and life transforming International Conference on Advanced Trends in ICT and Management (ICAITM). The theme for this second ICAITM edition was appropriately chosen for this year with Liberia in mind a ICT for economic prosperity, good governance and development. Despite early showers, the event attracted a full house.


The Conference Chair and Host of ICAITM 2017, Dr. Kapil Gupta welcomed the guests and congratulated the Liberians for the peace prevailing in Liberia despite election runoff which was received by a thunderous applause. He emphasized on two key strategies that will help the growth of ICT, which is paramount to any nation’s growth. Firstly, Training the Youth and the current workforce with the ICT skills and secondly providing the right IT infrastructure. He also stated that ICTs are only tools and, and cannot on their own bring about good governance. Thus, emphasis must be placed on the human link to good governance by all stakeholders concerned. Public Private Partnership must design and fund programs to promote good governance in Africa, disseminate information and undertake advocacy.

Among the dignitaries who graced the conference were Hon Dr. Frederick Norkeh, the Minister for Post and Telecom (and the Keynote Speaker), Hon. Mr.Frantz Sawyer, Deputy Minister – Commerce and Industry, Prof. Michael Slawon, Director General of National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), Madam Nodumo Dhlamini, Director of ICT Service and Knowledge Management at Association of African Universities, Mr. Benson, Commissioner of Liberia Telecom Authority and Dr. Boubakar Barry, CEO of West and Central Research Educators Network (WACREN) among others. The dignitaries acknowledged the quality of the Conference organized by BlueCrest and the quality of ICT education given by NIIT and BlueCrest College.
