KAS Medics is pleased to share a recent milestone in its work with Tanzania’s Ministry of Health (MOH): a collaborative tour and seminar programme with two leading European medical equipment manufacturers, Esaote (Italy) for ultrasound and MRI systems, and DMS Imaging/Apelem (France) for fluoroscopy machines.
Recognising the need to upgrade diagnostic imaging capabilities in Tanzania’s zonal and referral-level hospitals, KAS Medics proposed a manufacturer site tour to the MOH, aimed at showcasing the latest advances in AI-driven medical imaging technology–innovations that help healthcare professionals work more efficiently and give patients better diagnostic care at a better price point.
A Collaborative International Tour
The MOH accepted the proposal and put together a delegation of seven key opinion leaders for the tour, including the Radiology & Imaging Coordinator and the Global Fund Coordinator from the Prime Minister’s Office–Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), along with biomedical engineers and radiologists from the MOH and the Medical Stores Department (MSD). KAS Medics facilitated the full trip to France and Italy.
Bringing Global Innovation to Tanzania
Following the tour, representatives from DMS Imaging and Esaote travelled to Tanzania, where KAS Medics organised a seminar attended by 60 professionals from the imaging community, including stakeholders from the MOH, PO-RALG, and MSD.
At the seminar, the partners showcased their latest portfolios. Esaote presented itself as the first company globally to develop cost-effective MRI systems dedicated to the musculoskeletal system and extremities (including the I-Genius, Magnifico Open, S-Scan Open, G-Scan Open, and O-Scan) alongside its MyLab ultrasound range spanning cardiovascular, women’s health, interventional radiology, and rheumatology applications. DMS Imaging presented its “intelligence to imaging” portfolio, spanning mobile and portable X-ray units (including the carbon-nanotube ONYX), bone densitometers, radiography and fluoroscopy systems, operating room C-arms, and digital radiography retrofit kits.
Looking Forward
As a direct result of these visits and seminars, the MOH has launched a major project to upgrade the imaging departments of more than 100 hospitals across Tanzania. KAS Medics is honoured to be recognised as a preferred partner in this effort to transform healthcare access across the country.
